Enabling employees to lift and move materials safely and ergonomically.
About SIA Glass
SIA Glass, a Swedish ice cream manufacturer, is a subsidiary of Bertegruppen AB, one of the oldest family-owned companies in Sweden. The company specializes in developing, producing, and marketing ice cream, sorbets, and other frozen desserts to wholesalers, large households, and individual consumers. Established in 1961, SIA Glass employs 138 people and reported a turnover of around SEK 601 million in 2021.
The solution
The result was a recommendation of two Lift & Drive 90E. This would enable safe materials handling at the right work height in most cases. In addition, a Lift & Drive 130P with a long mast would enable lifting of ingredients to a funnel placed at a higher altitude in the production line.
The challenge:
In 2015, Sia Glass made a big investment in improved efficiency at their factory in Slöinge, in the western region of Halland. When the new facilities were finalized, a need arose for lifting equipment that would facilitate materials handling in production: enabling employees to lift and move materials at the required heights safely and ergonomically.
The Solution:
Together with Gert-Ove Jansson, maintenance manager at Sia Glass, a representative from Pronomic surveyed the new production facilities and identified where lifting equipment were needed. The survey also detailed the requirements regarding ergonomic lifting heights and outer measures of the equipment chassis to fit the work environment.
The result was a recommendation of two Lift & Drive 90E. This would enable safe materials handling at the right work height in most cases. In addition, a Lift & Drive 130P with a long mast would enable lifting of ingredients to a funnel placed at a higher altitude in the production line.
Benefits:
“Pronomic’s recommended solutions were a perfect fit for us. They lift higher than most lifting trolleys in the market, and with high lifting speeds,” says Gert-Ove Jansson at Sia Glass.
