The solution

Pronomic’s solution was two Lift & Drive 130P, equipped with telescopic masts and a specially designed tool for lifting each end of a pipe at the same time. Both lifting trolleys have a stroke of 3,4 meters and a lifting capacity of 70 kg each.

The challenge:

SBT Sweden needed to mount a pump system for draining storm water from tunnels that are part of the E4 Stockholm Bypass project. The drainpipes were 6 meters long, weighing 120 kg, and were to be mounted 3,4 meters up in a culvert. The culvert only measures 1,4 meters in width.

“It’s my responsibility to create a safe work environment for anyone working on the Bypass Stockholm project,” says Ulf Wallin, health and safety officer at SBT Sweden AB. He adds: ”It was especially important to find a solution that would fit the available space, with enough lifting capacity to elevate the load to where it needed to be in a safe and reliable way.”

Solution:

Due to the narrow space available and the length of the pipes, Pronomic’s solution was two Lift & Drive 130P, equipped with telescopic masts and a specially designed tool for lifting each end of the pipe at the same time. Both lifting trolleys have a stroke of 3,4 meters and a lifting capacity of 70 kg each.

Benefits:

The trolleys are lightweight and easy to maneuver in tight spaces. Despite the lift height they only weigh 70 kg each.

The design of the load carrier ensured safe lifting according to the requirements, as it was designed to keep the pipes stable during the lifting procedure. It was also designed to pick up the pipes from the floor without manual lifting.

The safety functions of the Lift & Drive trolleys were important to fulfill the strict safety requirements. The 3-step central brake safeguards the trolley to keep it still during lifting. The stepless control gives the operators full control of the lift with a precise positioning of the load. The lifting trolley is also equipped with overload protection, which prevents the trolley from lifting more than it is designed for, which prevents accidents from too heavy loads.
